General Managers Update
July '25

Ann Marie Bowyer, General Manager

Welcome to the July ’25 edition of the Bluebird Care newsletter! I’m thrilled to share some highlights from our recent month:

Team Growth & Culture: We’ve welcomed three new Care Assistants—Janice Clemente, Angelie Pineda, Apple Joy Montecillo and Jeannette Cosalan in South Tyneside, and Siobhan Fleming in Scarborough. A warm welcome to them; we’re excited to see the positive impact they’ll bring!

Our “You Said, We Did” initiative continues to listen to your suggestions and turn them into action, and don’t forget—we’re still rewarding successful referrals with £250. If you know someone special who’d thrive here, now’s a perfect time to refer them!

Customer Survey Results – A Huge Thank You: Over the past four weeks, we’ve been collecting feedback from our customers—and the results so far are nothing short of outstanding.

We’re currently holding a Net Promoter Score (NPS) of 80 and a Customer Satisfaction Index (CSI) of 93.33 out of 100. These scores are incredibly rare in our sector and are a direct reflection of the trust our customers place in us—and the exceptional care each of you provides day in and day out.

With one week of responses still to come, we’re already incredibly proud. Thank you for continuing to go above and beyond—it’s being recognised in the best possible way.

Office Team Collaboration Day: Teams from Newcastle, South Tyneside, Darlington, Scarborough, and York recently came together for an invaluable day of sharing best practices and building unity across our network. It was a memorable occasion with great energy—and a team photo to prove it!

Milestone Moments: Congratulations to Louise Cossar for celebrating five years with Bluebird Care! From day-to-day support to participating in the Great North Run, Louise consistently demonstrates compassion and commitment—year after year.

Thank you all for your passion, dedication, and hard work. Every day, you help make Bluebird Care stronger and more connected. Here’s to a fantastic July—and beyond!

Good News Stories

Bluebird Care Awards Success

We’re incredibly proud to announce that two exceptional members of our team – Ann-Marie Bowyer and Erin Kilford – have been shortlisted for the Bluebird Care Awards 2025, with both invited to the awards ceremony taking place on 9th July at Thorpe Park Hotel & Spa.

Ann-Marie Bowyer – Shortlisted for Team Player of the Year

Ann-Marie Bowyer, who wears the dual hats of Finance Manager and General Manager, has been recognised for her outstanding leadership, versatility, and commitment to supporting every corner of the business.

Whether it’s stepping in to assist with recruitment, resolving operational challenges, or navigating the complexities of financial management, Ann-Marie leads from the front. She’s always the last one out of the office, ensuring no task is left undone and no team left unsupported. Her approach is grounded in action, collaboration, and care. Uplifting those around her with a calm, solution-focused attitude and an ability to balance priorities without ever compromising quality.

Though she never seeks the spotlight, Ann-Marie’s impact speaks volumes. Her nomination for Team Player of the Year is a testament to the crucial role she plays across the group.

Erin Kilford – Shortlisted for Communications and Marketing Champion

Behind every piece of digital content, campaign launch, and brand message you see across our businesses is Erin, our Digital Marketing Executive. Erin has been the driving force behind the day-to-day execution of our marketing strategy, ensuring consistency, quality, and creativity in everything we deliver.

Over the past year, she’s played a pivotal role in rolling out impactful campaigns—most notably our Dementia Care campaign in Q2, which saw thoughtful messaging and compelling creative delivered across digital and offline channels. From managing ad campaigns and content calendars to internal newsletters and brand assets, Erin’s work keeps our identity strong and our communications clear.

Her adaptability, eye for design, and positive, proactive nature have earned her a well-deserved place on the shortlist for Communications and Marketing Champion.

We are thrilled to see both Ann-Marie and Erin recognised for their contributions and commitment. Their shortlisting is a proud moment for the entire team, and we wish them both the best of luck at the Bluebird Care Awards 2025.

Our offices came together!

Our teams from Newcastle, South Tyneside, Darlington, Scarborough and York came together for the first time since welcoming Scarborough to the Bluebird Care family!

It was a valuable day of collaboration, where we shared best practices, reflected on our progress, and looked ahead to the future, all with a shared goal of shaping a stronger, more unified Bluebird Care.

Great things happen when passionate teams come together!

And of course, we couldn’t leave without capturing a team photo to mark the occasion!

This month, we’re proud to celebrate Louise Cossar’s 5-year anniversary with Bluebird Care! Louise has been a dedicated and compassionate member of our team since day one, consistently going above and beyond for the people she supports.

What Our Customers Are Saying

Over the past four weeks, we’ve been gathering feedback through our annual customer survey—and we’re delighted with how the results are shaping up so far.

We’re currently tracking a Net Promoter Score (NPS) of 80 out of 100 and a Customer Satisfaction Index (CSI) of 93.33 out of 100. These are outstanding results that reflect the genuine care, dedication, and consistency shown by our teams every single day.

With one more week of survey responses to go, we’re already incredibly proud of the impact we’re making—and it’s thanks to all of you. These scores are more than just numbers; they’re a powerful reminder of the trust our customers place in us and the difference we make in their lives.

Thank you to every team member for the part you play in delivering outstanding care.

Supporting Iain and Val Beyond Care

When Iain was discharged from hospital, he was experiencing delirium, COPD complications, fluid on the lungs, reduced mobility, and spending most of his time in bed. His wife Val was overwhelmed—unsure of what to do and feeling the toll both mentally and physically.

Referred to us by the local authority, Iain and Val began receiving support from our team—not with medication or personal care, but simply through presence, companionship, and a helping hand with daily tasks. We also supported with emotional wellbeing and gentle encouragement to reintroduce social visits.

At their most recent review, we asked Iain what his biggest goal was. He answered, “To go for coffee with Val again.” They had always been a sociable, active couple, and this was something they deeply missed.

This week, Val happily shared that they’ve been out for coffee together—and that Iain is now walking 12 laps of their garden. They’re both feeling hopeful about the future once again.

A heartfelt thank you to Mark H and Raphiat, Iain’s regular carers, and to Mark T, Cleo, Jess, and Hannah for their continued support.

Bluebird Care Sponsors Local Dance School

Bluebird Care South Tyneside proudly sponsored JnK Dance School for the 2025 South Tyneside Festival Parade, helping fund the group’s vibrant costumes as they performed in front of thousands during the borough’s much-loved summer celebration.

The annual summer parade is a much-loved highlight of the local calendar, bringing together hundreds of performers, schools, and community groups for a colourful and high-energy celebration across the borough. This year’s theme brought vibrant costumes, energetic routines, and an electric atmosphere enjoyed by thousands of residents and visitors.

Dementia Care Campaign Round-Up

We’re proud to share the incredible success of our recent Dementia Care Awareness Campaign. Across our social media platforms, we reached over 2 million impressions, helping audiences better understand, support, and navigate the dementia care journey.

Throughout the campaign, we focused on raising awareness, breaking down misconceptions, and educating our community about the realities of living with and caring for someone with dementia. A key highlight was the overwhelming response to our video featuring Vicky, which resonated deeply and contributed significantly to the campaign’s success.

Thank you to everyone who engaged with, shared, and supported our content—we’re making a real difference together.

Day in the life of Digital Marketing Executive, Erin

With perfect timing that Erin has been nominated for the Marketing and Communications Champion at the Bluebird Care awards, we thought we should take an insight into Erin’s usual day and see what her tasks are, what she gets up to and more about her role.

Erin is the Digital Marketing Executive across all franchises, covering social media campaigns, coordinating and designing internal newsletters for both staff and customers, designs paid ad’s and creates all the content you see. Since her job is not customer nor staff faced, a lot of you don’t know Erin or what her job entails, so make sure to have a swipe through at Erin’s day!

Looking Ahead

Taking care in high temperatures

Advice from Victoria Gardner Health and Social Care Trainer

As the temperatures are rising in our area, please be aware of the signs and symptoms of Heat Stroke and Heat Exhaustion, take extra care of yourselves!

Here are some tips…

  • Seek Shade: When the sun is strongest, especially between 11am and 3pm, find shade under trees, umbrellas, or canopies, or go indoors.
  • Cover Up: Wear protective clothing like long-sleeved shirts, pants, and wide-brimmed hats.
  • Use Sun cream: Apply a broad-spectrum, water-resistant sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher to all exposed skin 30 minutes before going outside and reapply every two hours, or more frequently if swimming or sweating.
  • Protect Your Eyes: Wear sunglasses that offer 100% UV protection.
  • Be Extra Careful with Children and the Elderly: Children and the elderly have more delicate skin, so ensure they are adequately protected with shade, clothing, and sunscreen.
  • Stay Hydrated: Drink plenty of water, especially during warmer weather, ensure our customers have access to lots of drinks. Prefill jugs and pack with ice, ask family members to provide suitable water bottles or jugs. Make ice cubes with juice to encourage customers to drink.
  • Report concerns asap: It may be something and nothing, it is always better to be safe.

Our Q3 Online Campaign

As we move into Quarter 3, we’re excited to launch two new marketing campaigns—one focused on Home Care and the other on Live-in Care. These campaigns will primarily run online and are designed to generate new customer enquiries and increase awareness of the incredible work we do every day.

A key part of our strategy this quarter is to showcase real-life stories and authentic experiences. We believe the most powerful way to connect with future customers is by sharing the real moments that matter—whether that’s through written case studies, photo stories, or short video clips.

If you have a story or customer journey you think we could feature or if you’d be open to participating in a photo or video shoot, please get in touch with the Marketing Team. Your insight and involvement could make a real difference.

Let’s bring our care to life—together.
